17 Day "Fun Trip"

Hawaii   4 Island Adventure

March 15 - 31 2010

Topplane Travel  would like to invite you on a spectacular 17 day vacation of a lifetime to the beautiful islands of Hawaii.  We will be visiting 4 of her islands.  Oahu, Kauai, Big Island and Maui.

Oahu, called the “Gathering Place”, is home to Waikiki, the most famous beach in the world, as well as infamous Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial Honolulu, the capital of the islands, is a large and bustling city.  Oahu, a glorious island paradise awaits you.

For many visitors, Kauai is the Hawaii they dream of.  Known as the “Garden Isle”, Kauai offers breathtaking scenery, sandy beaches and charming villages. Nature has full reign in Kauai.  In the center of the island is the dramatic Mt. Waialeale, a remnant of the long-extinct volcano that gave birth to Kauai.  Along the north shore are the spectacular Na Pali cliffs, 14 miles of rich green valleys and steep, narrow cliffs.  There’s also the desert-like palette of beautiful Waimea Canyon, which Mark Twain called the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific”, the lush tropical beaches and so much more.  Kauai is truly our favourite island.

The Island of Hawaii is sometimes called the “Orchid Isle” or the “Volcano Isle”, but to its residents it’s always the “Big Island of Hawaii”.  A Big Island vacation excites the senses and inspires the adventurer.  You can hike into a volcano crater, catch marlin, stare into the heavens from the snow-capped summit of Mauna Kea, and relax, swim, kayak and snorkel at a black sand, white sand or even green sand beach.  The Big Island has the world’s most active volcano, Kilauea, which has been spewing lava since 1983.

Maui, formed by 2 massive volcanoes, is the second largest of the islands.  These volcanoes are joined by a rich valley, which gives Maui it’s nickname, the “Valley Isle”.  There is much to Maui’s natural splendour, including the lush Iao Valley, the magical waterfalls of Hana, and the endless sea of sugarcane and pineapple fields.  Maui has more miles of swimmable beach than any other island.  Ancient volcanic activity has left sands in a rainbow of colours.  A colourful, historical waterfront whaling town, Lahaina, and Ka’anapali Beach, just 3 miles away, is Maui’s most popular beach & resort area.

The exotic islands of Hawaii offer so much to see and do.  The sophistication of Honolulu’s Waikiki Beach, lush rainforests, the magic and colour of a fascinating culture, beautiful beaches and memories that will stay with you forever.  Please, come along with us and experience for yourself these beautiful islands.  We promise you a once in a lifetime Topplane Travel “Fun Trip” in an unforgettable paradise!

Topplane  Travel  17 day       Hawaii 4-Island Adventure

Please find below the itinerary we have planned for our 17 day Hawaii vacation tour.  We have tried to include many of the “must-see” attractions while on the islands, but we have also tried to give you some relaxing time on your own also.

March 15 ~ Day 1

We fly from Toronto to Vancouver this evening and spend our first night at the Day’s Inn near the Vancouver Airport.  In doing this, we will not have to endure the long flight to Honolulu all at once.

March 16 – 19 ~ Day 2    to    Day 5

Today we fly from Vancouver to Honolulu.   We will spend the next 4 nights in Waikiki Beach on Oahu.  During our stay here we will be visiting Pearl Harbor and the Arizona Memorial.  We will also have a city tour of Honolulu including Punchbowl Crater & Memorial, the State Capital, Chinatown and more points of interest.  There will be ample time for you to take  optional tours on your own such as, tour the USS Missouri, visit the Polynesian Culture Center, take an island tour, shop in Honolulu, Waikiki and the International Market Place,  take a stroll on Waikiki Beach, visit Diamond Head, visit the Honolulu Zoo and much more.  For those interested in aviation, there is the new Pacific Aviation Museum.  You will delve into the intriguing history of military flight in this interactive museum which presents classic American and Japanese airplanes.  You will see historic footage of the attack of Pearl Harbor and experience the sights, sounds and exhilaration of the first days of the war.  Or, you can just relax on beautiful Waikiki Beach!

March 20 – 23 ~ Day 6   to    Day 9

We fly to Kauai today and spend the next 4 nights on this beautiful island.  This is our favourite island.  It is the least commercialized and the most relaxing island.  The lush, green, tropical scenery of Kauai is world-famous.  You may recognize the scenery from Hollywood classics like South Pacific, Jurassic Park and others.  We will be staying on the Coconut Coast (east side) of Kauai in Kapaa.  We have included tours to Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific), a leisurely cruise along the Wailua River to the famous Fern Grotto, visit Poipu beach area on the south shore and a tour of the north shore.    If you would like to take a helicopter tour while in Hawaii, we advise you do it on Kauai.  The breathtaking Na Pali coast can only be seen from the air or the water.  From the helicopter you will be able to see the Na Pali coast, Waimea Canyon and many of the waterfalls you see in the movies. This beautiful island gives you the chance to  be as active as you want to be or just relax and take in the aloha spirit that the island has to offer.

March 24 – 26 ~ Day 10    to    Day 12

We fly to the Island of Hawaii today where we will spend the next 3 nights.  We will be staying  on the west coast of the island in the Kailua-Kona area in an oceanfront hotel within walking distance of restaurants and shops.  The Big Island has it all.  Nowhere else in the world will you find the diversity available here.  Pristine rain forests, lava deserts, world-class beaches, snow covered mountains, an active volcano - Kilauea, dazzling sunsets and just about every activity you can think of.  If we could take you to only one place on the Big Island, it would be to Volcanoes National Park.  When we first toured this park, we felt like we had landed on the moon.  We were truly awestruck!  Our island tour will include a visit to this amazing natural wonder!

March 27 – 29 ~ Day 13    to    Day 15

We fly to the island of Maui and spend the next 3 nights.  Our hotel will be located on the flawless stretch of world-renowned Kaanapali Beach.  We have included a tour of Iao Valley State Park where you will find the Iao Needle and the Kepaniwai Heritage Gardens, Maui Tropical Plantation and more.  Our hotel is located near the old whaling town of Lahaina with lots of shops and restaurants, etc. There is a shuttle available from our hotel leaving several times a day to Lahaina.  There is also Whaler’s Village just a short walk from our hotel that has shopping, restaurants and museums.  You might want to take an optional tour such as the Road to Hana.  No road in Hawaii is more celebrated than the Hana Highway, the supercurvaceous two-lane highway that winds along Maui’s northeastern shore, offering some of the most gorgeous waterfalls, botanical gardens, magnificent seascapes and scenic natural sightseeing in the entire state.  For those that get motion sickness, this might not be a good tour for you, though. From the beautiful beach in front of our hotel you might be able to observe whales that migrate to this area at this time of year.  This is a good island to take a whale watching cruise.

March 30 ~ Day 16

Today we say goodbye to our tropical paradise and board our flight to Vancouver, taking with us unforgettable memories of a vacation of a lifetime!  We will once again stay at the Days Inn near the Vancouver  Airport this evening.

March 31 ~ Day 17

All too soon our journey ends as we fly home to Toronto today.  We will take with us great memories and bid a fond farewell to our family of travelling friends and hope everyone has  had a wonderful Topplane Travel “Fun Trip” in paradise.

Airlines

We will be flying with Westjet Airlines for our flights to and from Hawaii.  In order to make our flight not so long, we will be flying from Toronto the first night and staying at the Days Inn near the Vancouver Airport and flying from Vancouver to Honolulu the next morning.  On our return, we will be flying from Maui to Vancouver and staying at the Days Inn again that evening and flying back to Toronto the next morning.  This will make the flights to and from Hawaii much more bearable.  Inter-island flights will be announced at a later date.

Hotels

Negotiations with the hotels we will be staying at on each island has not been finalized yet.  All of the hotels we will be staying at are on the ocean with partial or oceanviews.  We have tried to choose them so that you will be within walking distance to shops, restaurants, entertainment, etc.
